Democracy Means Getting Involved.

Most people have stopped — not out of laziness, but inertia. Yet today, more is possible than ever before.

What I'm working on

Torsten Fischer

At some point I decided: I'm diving in — to better understand the AI synthesis machine. And because it's fun to build things. This site is where I collect my experiments, prototypes, and ideas.

I'm a sociologist. In Vienna, I tried to make organisations smarter through a wiki — and learned that a good idea at the wrong time doesn't stand a chance. In Tokyo, I connected European startups with Japanese corporations — and learned the power of culture and humility. In Kigali, I digitised tourism and smallholder farming. Now in Bonn, I'm working on how to channel more money into innovation in the Global South.

The thread that runs through it all: How do we involve more people in shaping society? Because diversity — as exhausting as it sometimes is — produces more stable solutions. This question has occupied me for nearly 20 years.

brinkbrink is my attempt at an answer: digital infrastructure to connect people in real life. Local, in Bonn, as a start.

Most of what I do here is because interesting problems interest me — and because almost everything is more fun when you don't do it alone.
